Nicknamed "Tool Town" for its industrial history, Athol is located in Worcester County, Massachusetts. Though first settled in 1735, the town was officially incorporated in 1762 and its rich history is still seen today. The Millers River flows directly through the picturesque downtown area which houses historic architecture including the popular Pequoig Hotel. Driving through Athol is like taking a step back in time to a simpler era. Outside of the bustling little downtown, Athol features some of the most pleasant scenery in the area. Once the fall foliage begins, Athol becomes popular with visitors coming to experience the beautifully-colorful leaves.
